She didn’t dare look back for fear it would cause him to react faster. There really had been no point in running. He was faster, stronger (despite his wound), and much deadlier than a DLF agent with a silver knife. This thought made her grit her teeth and push forward with another burst of speed. She was blind to the fact that he could appear anywhere he liked. She really didn’t care just as long as she got away. She yelped and tried to stop as he appeared before her, springing his trap, but her momentum carried her forward into his waiting arms and they closed around her as tight as steel. She went to move her arms to push him away, or push herself out of his grip but she realized he held her arms to her sides. Struggling wildly she felt like some sort of animal. It must have been exactly as a rabbit felt as a hawk swoops down to catch it in those deadly talons. It was at this point that she knew she wouldn’t survive the night. She knew it. There was no way she could escape him now unless he let her go and she was sure she had angered him beyond that point. No hope. No hope. The words echoed through her mind and she nearly cried. There was no hope that she would live. No hope that help would come. DLF thought her superior so why should she need back up? And if she did die then what was one loss among thousands of agents at their beck and call?

His voice, a whisper in her ear, felt like it should have been a comfort. It should have soothed her but only dread was instilled. She opened her mouth to scream but it had dried with her ragged breathing from her fast escape. Instead only a whimper escaped and she struggled once more. This was it. She was going to die right here on the street. No witnesses. Only the vampire. His cold cheek brushed against hers as he pushed her head to the side preparing to take the fatal bite. She clenched her fists. She wanted to do lots of things. She wanted to scream most of all but she also had the urge to insult him one last time. Nothing came though. She would meet her death in silence. Just as she had wanted him to do. Strong silent defiance. Her fear had disappated and she was prepared now for death. It was only then that she realized that there wasn’t a special circle in heaven for DLF agents. No she was going to hell. Not because she had killed supernaturals but because she had killed humans as well. Living beings. Ones with families even. She grit her teeth and inhaled sharply waiting for it. His head dipped lower and she squeezed her eyes shut. Instead of a savage bite though she flinched as only the tips of his fangs punctured her skin drawing blood. She shivered as he ran his tongue over her neck. It made her think of some kind of macabre kiss. It disgusted her but nearly delighted her as well. She couldn’t help but breath a sigh of relief and relax into his arms. She had so readily anticipated death but she had lived. A small voice told her it wasn’t quite over yet and she couldn’t help but whisper Is that it? in a small voice.

Her struggle was something he had been searching for. A fight. Something out of the ordinary than most of his feedings. He listened to her thoughts of no hope, that she was dead, she was going to hell. He grinned a little as he dipped his head and pricked her neck with his elongated canines. His tongue caused shivers down her spine that vibrated his arms as he held her close. Her body relaxed, her mind relieved...yet wary. She knew things were not yet over, but she had already begun to let herself be manipulated. He never inserted images or false thoughts...just a sense. Something of comfort that she would not die tonight. And in truth, he did not want to kill her at all. She had been, after all, doing her job. He just wanted to remind her where the power really resided.

The soft words that escaped her mouth, though, were not of his making. Killian sighed a little. It was provocative the way she had said it. He wanted her now more than he had when he first set eyes on the woman who decided to sit next to him in the vampire bar. He moved his head so he could look her in the eye. Her relief more than came through in her voice. There was something underlying it...a yearning, almost, for more. "It doesn't have to be," he whispered. His face had gone back to its normal human form, his teeth not as long as before, making them less lethal, yet still deadly. He brushed his cheek against hers again, drawing back and letting his lips come dangerously close to Eva's, yet not kissing her. He let the sense of comfort sink a little deeper, the heat of her body warming his cold skin, her hot breath on his mouth as she breathed. "I can do more...much more...if you wish to follow me." His arms around her loosened slightly, yet not letting her go completely. She would not be able to escape his grip if she tried. Killian wanted to bite her again, the blood from her neck being the sweetest in a long while that he had tasted. He could still smell it from his first bite that had already begun to clot. His deep blue eyes stared into her fiery green ones, anticipation becoming clear.

She bit her tongue and resisted the urge to cringe away from his eyes as they locked on hers. She shivered and looked away as he whispered to her. He’s an animal Eva not some sort of gentleman lover she chided herself silently feeling her face flush and catch fire as he brushed his cheek against hers. She nearly stopped breathing as his lips closed in. Was he going to kiss her? Her shuttering breath caught in her throat and she froze feeling as if her heart had stopped too. She almost bit her lip but she realized even that small movement would have created contact. She feared him yes. It would be crazy not to fear an enemy like him. Dark, ancient, powerful beyond imagining. Capable of a great many things. His words dripped with promises. They sounded sweet but then again so did the forbidden fruit. Tempting. Yes it was tempting. She figured he had a good deal of time to practice seducing girls. Even girls like her. Cold hearted. Angry. Bitter. Deadly. Is that why he held her still? Had she proved enough of a threat to him that he couldn’t let her go? Or was he just intrigued now? A vampires intrigue for its prey.

His arms loosened but she knew that this was no opening for an escape. She could have continued to believe that she had no hope but something made her think otherwise. He hesitated. He hadnt bit her. He hadnt killed her. Even if that only meant he was going to do it later there was still a glimmer of hope in that. If she, a human girl, could have wounded him then surely she could escape. She trembled, inches away from him knowing that he awaited an answer. What would he do if she gave him nothing? Would he kill her then? Did he truly want her to say yes? Or better still, did he really believe she would give that answer? N-no she stuttered trying to regain her composure. There was his answer. She realized now that she could move her arms if only a little. Not enough to pull them out of his grip. Enough to shift her hands and place them on his stomach to push him away. It wouldn’t work. She knew it wouldn’t but the comfort of some fight made her feel a little less helpless. She nearly gasped as she could his cold skin underneath the clothing even. It seeped into her hands and she shivered again. Please…let me go she said emphasizing with a small push with her hands as if to push him away. Her heart began to race again as she realized how incredibly close he was again. Please she whispered trying to push away one more time.

Her hands and eyes pleaded for him to let her go. But how could he do such a thing at a time like this? Killian had caught the DLF agent. Putrid little female scum. The pressure on his stomach from her hands caused the hair on the back of his neck to stand. It was a gentle touch that spread warmth throughout his torso. Her eyes were scared. Fear was plain in her every shiver. He leaned in close, until their lips almost touched. "I'm afraid I can't do that enkeli," he purred. The smell of blood and decay was on his breath with a hint of cinnamon. He smiled widely, his canines glistening in the low streetlight. "Not yet." Her body quaked in his arms and he snickered. It was priceless. Ages had passed since he had struck the fear into someone so profoundly. It felt good stretch himself in this field once more. The girl was the most scared she had ever been in her life. Killian had shown her so many things she would never want to see again in one night. But there was always more that he could do. He was just getting started.

"Don't you worry though. I'll take good care of you." He almost chuckled again and dropped his smile into a grimace. He spun her quickly before she had time to think, pulled her back to his chest with a hand gripping each forearm, pulling them uncomfortably close. He breathed on her neck softly and gently lifted her into the air. In seconds, they were miles away. Buildings passed beneath them until they disappeared. The air was cool as it hit his face. Home was where his heart was. and he knew that no one was there. Killian landed on the grounds of his estate, the building that was his home looming in the light of the night sky. As soon as their feet touched the ground he pushed her toward the home, gravel driveway passing beneath them as they moved. The double doors at the top of the short staircase in front of the home opened with a thought and closed with another. He stopped in the middle of the ante room, her skin had risen with bumps where he had hardly noticed the cold. His mouth got dangerously close to her ear, close to her neck where the blood rushed through her veins, tempting him to bite. "If you promise not to run, I'll let you go." His grip in her forearms tightened, one more than the other. The blood had not clotted yet, blood still trickling down her arm and pooling in his sleeve. He wanted to take the suitcoat off. The dried blood was making his skin itch.

For a brief moment she actually believed he might let her go. Eva wasn’t quite sure what it was but the sudden idea that he might actually have a heart…or soul…dawned on her. It was a fleeting thought though. Within moments it was gone and his soft but hopless words fell on her like a ton of bricks. He was so close to her. Uncomfortably close. His lips nearly brushed her. She would have pulled away but she was still stuck in his grip. The word “enkeli” sounded somewhat familiar. She didn’t know what language it was or even what it meant but she felt like she should have. Was it even important? She shuddered in his arms as he murmured not yet. Sinister. Evil. She grit her teeth trying to keep the fear out of her face. She would rather be a cold hearted bitch then show the unfathomable fear that she knew he could see written in her eyes. She searched for an insult. Surely there had to be something she could insult him with. Fear closed her mind to them though. Angering a captor wasn’t exactly the best way to escape. Maybe the small hope that anger would cause them to make a mistake. Not this enemy though. A predator that had lived countless years. Knew every trick in the book and to top it all off, knew what she was going to do before she even knew it.

She nearly yelped as he spun her roughly and pulled her arms back keeping her close to him. The next few moments…seconds even seemed like a dream and she wasn’t quite sure if she had blacked out. It seemed, felt, like she was flying above buildings. Surely it couldn’t have been real because she was now on the ground again and before her…a castle? No it couldn’t have been. Of course it was dark too. Then he was pushing her towards the house. She bit her lip and her heart caught in her throat. So this was where she was going to die. No chance at all for anyone to find her body. She prayed that death came quickly. She pressed back into him as the doors opened as if on their own accord, she realized after a brief moment that he must have opened them. Then he was pushing her forward again. She flinched as the door slammed shut behind them. Her eyes wandered around the darkened room not exactly sure what she was looking for. A weapon. A way out. Anything familiar. Something to identify where she was. Obviously his home. Suddenly he was whispering in her ear and she stiffened feeling his breath on her neck. Her mind told her to lie. Anything to have him let her go then she could make a run for it. “To where?” she reasoned with herself though. He obviously had brought her here because he was familiar with it. So what would be the point of running when he could easily find her and catch her? Eva’s arms ached from lack of blood flow and her mind opened up again focusing on the small things. At this point I’d say anything to get the feeling back in my arms she hissed turning her head to fix him with an icy glare.

He seething comment actually made him smile. She had no where to run to except down halls of rooms and hidden coves. But he knew every inch of this house and all the passageways that were hidden in the walls. He did not need his speed to catch her around corners. In a way, he wanted to play with his food. But more than that, he wanted to bandage his arm. And since she was the one to cause it, she should be the one to fix it or drink it. Killian softened his grip a little, letting her arms down to her sides but sliding one hand up to behind her left upper arm with his good hand. "One more thing," he said, and started down the right hand corridor. It was only a matter of seconds before he reached one of the smaller bathrooms.

Smaller was almost an understatement. It was smaller than his master bathroom, but it still had a large walk-in shower and a double sink. The tile was all sand-colored ceramic and patterned with smaller red squares. He shut the door behind them and started rumaging through the drawers. He set supplies on the counter and stood back for a moment. Killian sighed heavily, glaring a little at Eva for this, but in the end he sort of craved the attention, no matter how reluctant it would be. "Bandage my arm," he demanded softly. It was almost a request, but not really. She faced him, quiet. He slowly slipped off his coat and tossed it to the corner. He looked at his left arm and grimaced. Blood began to drip on the floor of his bathroom. Killian hated cleaning. The cut was deeper and longer than what he had originally thought. It looked angry against the pale skin of his bicep. Killian slipped off his tshirt as well, revealing his sculpted chest and abs. "And don't make this a bigger mess than what it already is." He turned his body so she could see the damage she caused even if she didn't care. Fresh blood welled and trickled over dried blood, a darker red than the living blood in her veins that he wanted to drink so badly his mouth began to water.

She kept him fixed with a glare though she felt like shrinking away from him as he smiled. It only confirmed that there really was no hope of escape for her at this point. She was just going to have deal with the fact that she could very well die in this house. She grit her teeth angrily. One thing was for sure. She wasn’t about to take it lying down. She planned on getting in a few good punches before she went. Not every DLF agent went more than one round with one of the oldest vampires walking the earth. His grip softened and Eva felt the blood rush back down her tingling fingertips. She flexed the hand to get the feeling back and was about to pull away completely from his grip on her upper arm when he said “one more thing” and led her…no pulled her down the hall. In the few moments it took them to travel the corridor she was beginning to seriously wonder about what exactly the vampire wanted from her. If he had wanted her dead then he would have done it already. He had his chance to drink her blood out on the street. It wasn’t as if the corpse of the bartender would have been witness to anything. Eva flinched inwardly thinking about the horrible scene that had unfolded in front of her. It was like a nightmare and worst of all the bartender hadnt deserved it. So where was he taking her?

She nearly sighed audibly in relief as he opened up a door into a bathroom. He pulled her in and shut the door behind him. Eva tried her best to keep wonder from creeping onto her face. What the hell was he doing? It wasn’t until he opened a drawer and started to pull out medical supplies that she realized he had to bandage his arm. The one that she cut. A smirk crossed her face at the little victory she had over him. It disappeared right away the moment he glared at her. His soft spoken demand almost went unheard but either way Eva cocked an eyebrow and crossed her arms over her chest. He was going to make HER bandage his arm? It would be a cold day in hell before she did anything like that. He slipped his coat off and tossed it into a corner. She could see the blood already starting to well up. Before she could think of a smart comment he had pulled off his shirt and Eva turned her head to the side so he wouldn’t see her blush. She didn’t want him getting any ideas. She waited until she was sure any hint of pink was gone from her cheeks before she turned her face back to him. She could clearly see the damage she had done. If it had been on a human there probably would have been muscle damage. She hadnt realized how deep she had cut him. Blood had already started to drip down his arm from the wound and she bit her tongue to keep from blanching. She fixed him with her best glare and held up three fingers. Three words…Go…to…hell she growled at him and turned around heading for the bathroom door.

He heard more than saw the blood rush to her face as she turned her cheek at the sight of his chest. It left a small smile on his face, but it quickly faded at the sight of her. She had crossed her arms after he demanded that she repair the damage she had done. Killian watched her, and forgot how stubborn she was until she spoke. Go to hell...he laughed outright. She turned, heading for the door, and he did not try to stop her. There was no need. She could pull at that door all she wanted and it wouldn't move. He moved silently behind her, standing close to her. His good hand reached down and quickly unbuckled the thong around her thigh with the silver knifes in it. Killian tossed it behind him and let it bang against the wall. "I've been to Hell," he whispered. His voice was menacing, close to her ear. "And personally, I found it quite repugnant." He moved away and watched her to see if she would try the door or not. Either way, he was going to laugh at her for her lack of common sense. If he could control the front door, it would be obvious that he could control this one, or any other threshold in the house. Objects were not hard to control. He probably could have gotten rid of the knives earlier if he wanted an easy kill.

He turned the handle on the sink to the hot position and waited for the water to steam. Grabbing one of the wash clothes from the rack, he stuck it under the water, soaking it completely. He pulled a lever to plug the bottom and filled the sink with water as he squeezed the excess water out of the cloth. Killian shut off the water and held out the wash cloth to her, waiting. "Please." He glanced at his arm and grimaced a little at the almost black fluid tracing lines down his arm. He could feel it slowly healing, the human's blood doing him some good. But it would still take a whole day of rest for it to heal. The gash would leave a scar, unfortunately. Killian hated the minor weakness to silver, but how else was it going to be possible for something to wound him? It was also due to folklore that people have tried to stake him through the heart. But that doesn't work either. How is he killed? Decapitation. The only sure way to cut off his ability to heal himself was to take away his teeth and brain. He watched the girl before him, wondering if the DLF had taught her this or not. Hell, they wouldn't really know. The younger bloods died from the stake, so why not the old ones? Killian's eyes were intent. "Please just do this. I won't kill you tonight if you do." It was the only blunt guarantee that he could give. But he doubted she would use her head.

She had just gotten her hand to the door handle when she felt him unclip the knives from around her thigh. She whirled but didn’t attempt to grab them back as he flung them across the room. She grit her teeth angrily and folding her hands into fists. What would be the point of punching him except maybe just to hurt her hand. She squared her shoulders as he whispered in her ear and straightened her back. So you thought it was repugnant huh? Wish you had stayed there you blood sucking bastard she thought poisonously toward him. Her hand remained on the door knob as he moved away and her eyes followed his every movement. It took her a moment to realize that he was watching what she was going to do. Her hand slipped off the door handle and she let it drop back to her side. Hadnt he closed the door with his mind when they had first entered the house? What was to keep him from letting her out of the bathroom? He didn’t need physical force to stop her. Maybe that’s why he was doing this. To show off. He turned back to the sink and filled it up with steaming water soaking the washcloth in and then wringing it out. She set her lips in a straight line as he held the cloth out to her inclining her to take it. He openly grimaced at his blood leaving black trails down his arm and she wondered if he hated patching up war wounds as much as she did. It was never pleasant to have to aknowledge that you were weak. Even for a small moment of time and even if you won the battle. His promise to not kill her nearly made her laugh. Like I would ever trust the word of a vampire she sneered. However she took the few strides in his direction to close the gap and took the washcloth out of his hand.

She didn’t believe him for one minute that he wouldn’t kill her but maybe it was what humanity she had left that caused her actually do what she did. She cast one last half hearted glare at him before focusing on the cut into his arm. She ground her teeth together to keep from making a face. Old blood. As if it had been in him for years. Thousands of years. She swallowed and lifted the washcloth to his arm trying to keep her hands from shaking. Working very carefully she dabbed softly and slowly away at the old blood cleaning out the wound as best as she could. For some reason she doubted that any antiseptic would work on a vampire. Tossing the washcloth back onto the countertop, now stained with black blood, she reached forward and grabbed a thick roll of gauze. Wrapping it snuggly around his arm she tried to ignore the fact that she was holding it to keep it still…or maybe she was holding it to keep herself still. She finished the wrapping and tied it off neatly in a knot before giving a shuddering sigh and stepping away. There…can I go now? she asked feeling an angry twinge creep back into her voice. Amazing that she could just doctor a vampire up and then sound like a bitch directly afterward. She took another step backwards then turned towards the door again hoping it would work this time. Hoping that he didn’t realize that he promised not to kill her and didn’t say anything about letting her go. She hoped he forgot.

He grinned a little as she took the cloth from his hand. Her hands worked, but not confidently. She shook and could feel it through her fingers as she touched his arm. Her sentence beforehand was something he had heard plenty of times. Throughout his whole life, honestly. The tribe he had been apart of in his beginning years feared him until the warriors over threw him. They had never trusted his rule after his grandfather had died, and he did not blame them completely. No one wanted to serve a murderer. Killian, at the time, wished he did not have to kill people to survive and starved himself for months. Until instinct got the better of him and purged life into his veins. His strength returned and so did his sense.

He felt the pressure of the tied knot on his arm and watched her carefully. She asked if she could leave, but none to politely. Sure, she could leave the room. But the house? There was no chance. Killian would take her tonight...one way or the other. He wished it would be willingly, but a DLF was a DLF and there was no easy way out for them. They were murderers of his kind and the others that he had grown to tolerate. "The room...yes, you may." The thought that had crossed her mind though...no, he had not forgotten. He dropped the power he held over the door so that she could leave the room. But this was not the end of the night. He felt that a game of cat-and-mouse was in order. "Don't expect to leave the house though. I doubt you'd know where to go from here. And besides...I never said you could leave." A coy smile played at his lips. "Care to join me upstairs?" He didn't care if she followed. He would find her easily in his own home. He walked passed her and into the hallway, heading back the way they had come and took a right through the double doors. A sweeping staircase was right in from of him and he took the stairs at a moderate pace. He needed a new shirt. His night was not yet over, and the first one had been soiled.

She grit her teeth angrily and clenched her fists. What the hell was wrong with him? He hadnt bitten her yet but he refused to let her go? What was he doing? Teasing her? Eva had never met a more infuriating vampire. His words echoed in her ears. ”I doubt you’d know where to go from here. And besides…I never said you could leave”. His smile was so smug she inwardly cringed to keep herself from punching him. She inhaled deeply trying calm herself. It wasn’t fear that had filled her up so fast. It was a strong mixture of anger and confusion. Normally she was the one that was causing these emotions though she preferred fear from her targets more than anything. Though if a victim was angry enough it could possibly make the kill a little easier. Much easier to make mistakes if they were focused on only one thing. She nearly spat in his face as he passed her and asked her if she wanted to join him upstairs. It was obviously some sort of sick joke. She did however turn and go after him but stopped in the hallway. She was not about to follow him around like some sort of love sick puppy dog. However she knew that there would be no use in trying to escape through a door. He obviously had them locked with his mind. Why couldn’t he be a young stupid vampire? She watched him disappear behind the double doors and sighed angrily crossing her arms over her chest. What could she possibly do now?She went over the best ideas she could think of in her head. She could get her knives out of the bathroom and attack him again. She turned her head over her shoulder and stared at a window. She could jump out the window but the idea of running around in the wilderness covered in blood and wearing nothing but a tee shirt and jeans didn’t sound like the best idea. She pulled out her cell phone already knowing that she would have no service and calling 911 would be useless anyway. The only idea that seemed to stick was to grab one of her knives, of the two remaining, and wait for his attack…or whatever the hell it was that he planned to do. If she didn’t kill him then she could kill herself and deny him that small pleasure.

The small imagined victory made her smile softly as she re-entered the bathroom and pulled out one of the last knives. Lifting her shirt she slipped the knife blade down under her bra so the cold silver rested flat against her stomach. She inhaled deeply and dropped her shirt back into place making sure to adjust it so that the knifes outline didn’t show. He would know anyway but it was better to be prepared and something told her he would be a little less willing to reach down her shirt to extract a knife than to just pull it off of her leg. She went back out into the hall and headed the same direction that he had gone trying to keep her eyes and ears open. She went over every ploy she could think of to lure a vampire to her. They ranged from using herself as live bait to just openly admitting she was DLF and there to kill them. She had used her sex appeal before (or whatever sex appeal she had) but she cast that one aside immediately. That was only used on vamires that she guaranteed were easy kills. Killian was much too powerful and unpredictable for that. There was no telling what he might do. As she pushed through the double doors she easily spotted the stairs and was surprised to see Killian still walking up them. She hadnt realized how fast she had been moving. Stopping at the bottom of the stairs she glared up at him before calling Just what exactly do you plan on accomplishing with this little game of yours? Just because Im the only human that’s managed to actually make you feel some sort of emotion in centuries doesn’t mean that Im some sort of specialty dish. Just let me go and how about I give you a 24 hour headstart before I set the dogs on you huh? she finished placing her hands on her hips and looking up at him expectantly.
